Meet the Principal

Dear Mount Carbon Families and Community,

I am incredibly eager and enthused for my 2nd year as the principal of Mount Carbon Elementary. I am honored to lead our school community known for its strong values, dedicated staff, and vibrant spirit.

As an experienced educator and school leader, I bring with me a deep passion for creating inclusive, supportive, and engaging environments where every student can thrive. My 12 years as a building leader have taught me the profound power of connection—between staff, students, families, and the broader community—and I am committed to building strong relationships based on trust, transparency, and shared purpose.

I value being approachable, supportive, and genuinely eager to collaborate with and learn from each of you. Whether it's at morning drop-off, in the classroom, or at community events, I look forward to working together to continue the tradition of excellence at Mount Carbon.

I have two teenagers at home (Charlotte 14, Noah 17) and an amazing wife (Jami) who I’ve been married to for 23+ years. With two kids in high school, I understand how vital a strong connection with the school and school community is for student success. Each year brings different challenges, learning opportunities and unique possibilities. At home, and at Mount Carbon, I strive to make sure one thing remains the same: students need to take accountability and ownership for their learning AND contribute to the greater community of learners. Individually we can accomplish some goals; however, if we truly connect and collaborate, we can accomplish much, much more.
