Meet the Principal
Since 2006, I have been proudly serving the Mount Carbon students, staff and families in the principal role. Over the years, I have loved building relationships with our families and fostering a sense of belonging with our students. Our teaching staff is dedicated to our students and the profession. They are continuous learners and implement best instructional practices. The students at Mount Carbon are the reason I love my job. Being a part of a community of engaged learners, dedicated teachers, caring staff and supportive parents is truly remarkable.
Principal Tracy Jett
I received my Bachelor of Education from the University of Wisconsin (UW), Milwaukee in 1993, earning a teaching degree in Elementary and Middle School Education with an emphasis in science. Later, I earned my master's in Educational Leadership from Marian University. Before I became a principal, I primarily taught middle school science to seventh and eighth graders in Milwaukee Public Schools (three years) and Elmbrook Schools (seven years). When I moved to Colorado, I decided to act on my master's degree and served as the assistant principal at Adams City Middle School in Commerce City for three years. Then, in 2006, I proudly accepted the principalship at Mount Carbon Elementary where I have found my home.
On a personal note, one fact many may not know is I played Division I soccer during my undergraduate time at UW, Milwaukee. I grew up in Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin, a north shore suburb of Milwaukee. My parents still live in the same home I grew up in since I was four years old. I am the second oldest of four in my family and we are all still very close.
Today, my husband and I have a son and daughter that we love spending time with when they return home. Currently, our son is serving in the 82nd Airborne and our daughter has started her career at KPMG tax accounting services.
In addition to our website, you are invited to schedule a tour or contact us for further information about Mount Carbon. This is the school where we meet students where they are and challenge their academic, social and emotional growth.
Parents and families are central to Mount Carbon! Our active and passionate parent community partners with us to positively impact the student experience. Parents are encouraged to join our PTA and get involved with a variety of activities. I’m proud to be part of this community that was built together and would love to show you around. Go Miners!
